With the improvement in technology over time, there have been different types of bulbs trending in the market. Each of these bulbs has its own pros and cons. The purpose of these technologies is to make the lives of consumers convenient. Some of them consume more power while others work for longer periods.

In this article, our focus will be to cover different types of lights or bulbs available in the market. Knowing the difference between these types can make decision-making easier. So, let’s not delay it further and get going.

LED Bulbs or lights:

The LED lights work on one of the best technologies currently available. The operating cost of such a bulb is approximately $1 annually, while its performance is 83% better than the primitive incandescent bulbs available.

You can expect these bulbs to work for 34 years or 25000 hours. Isn’t that great for a simple bulb?

CFL Bulbs or lights:

Argon and a small amount of mercury vapor present in CFL bulbs provide the basis for light emission. The reaction between these two gases results in the creation of an invisible UV light, which triggers the fluorescent coating. It creates the visible light that emits from the bulb.

The annual cost of operating a CFL bulb is $1.75, which is higher than LED. But still an economical option. The working time of the CFL bulbs is usually 10000 hours or 14 years.

So, you can expect to recover your money invested in these bulbs back, providing you with great value.

Halogen Bulbs or Lights:

The working of halogen bulbs depends upon the evaporation of the tungsten filament. It happens with the release of the particles. This evaporated tungsten reacts with halogen gas to form the tungsten-halogen molecule. Once created, the tungsten moves back to the filament re-depositing itself while providing visible light.

Halogen bulbs or lights do not come under the most efficient technology category. The annual cost of operating the halogen bulbs is $5.05, higher than the other options discussed. Besides, the life of a rated bulb is 3000 hours or 4.2 years, which is a lot less than CFL or LED Bulbs.

These bulbs are not even recyclable, increasing the overall cost of using them.
