Oz Park is a decades-old park in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. It became prominent after the local reporter wrote the book by the name of Wizard of Oz.

How was the park named?
In the 1950s, the area around the park was not in the best condition, so the Chicago authorities permitted the Lincoln Park Conservation Association its improve.
Over the years, after the improvement of the other elements from the locality, the land was acquired for the park’s construction in 1974.
During that time, the author of the kid’s famous book, the Wonderful Wizard of the Oz, was a resident of the area, so the fans of the book would gather in the park to commemorate the important moments and to praise the author. This practice of the residents led to the name of Oz Park.
But it was not recognized until 1976 as the official name.

Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Scary Crow, Dorothy and Toto have their sculptures. However, not all of them were added at the same time. The latest addition is tracked back to 2007.
